Waxlax Center in Vero Beach adds new events!
The Waxlax Center has added a number of fun musicals and performances on the calendar for December and on into 2008! The Waxlax Center is located in Vero Beach, Florida on the Saint Edward's School South Campus. Vero Beach, on Florida's east coast, is located approximately 90 minutes southeast of Orlando and approximately 75 minutes north of West Palm Beach.
The Saint Edward’s School Theatre Department will be presenting "Flight of the Lawnchair Man" ; a 90 minute, nutty, modern pop/rock musical based on the true story of a dreamer who flew at 16,000 feet altitude in a lawnchair kept afloat by helium balloons, scaring 2 airliners, and the FAA. This is a kooky production filled with wonderful characters including Michelangelo, Charles Lindbergh, and Amelia Earhart, and all of the Wal-Mart employees of Passaic, New Jersey!
Shakespeare Askew!
Fri. April 25, 2008 & Sat. April 26, 2008
The SES Theatre Department presents their final production of 2007-2008 season “Shakespeare Askew!” An Evening of an “all out-of-kilter” Bard featuring 2 one-act plays by Allison Williams: “Mmmbeth!” and “Drop Dead, Juliet!”
“Mmmbeth!” is a hilarious gender-bending take on the Scottish play! Everything goes wrong. The witches take over the storytelling, Queen Duncan would rather open a donut franchise than die, Lady M's a bloodthirsty June Cleaver, and the murderers are preoccupied with creating a commercial for their services. Premiered at the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival!
“DropDead, Juliet!” Allison Williams latest spoof on Shakespeare and SES's FLORIDA THESPIAN ONE ACT COMPETITION PIECE for 2007-2008. Juliet has had enough! Enough with the poison, enough with the stabbing, and especially enough with the dying! She wants a new story and she wants it now. More parts for girls! More romance! Less death! Romeo and Juliet will never be the same - or will it? Not everyone's so keen on the changes. And why is Romeo sneaking off with Rosaline?
Produced by Special Arrangement with Theatrefolk.

Starring Emily Packard, Morgan Vosbikian, Aly Ryall, Brooke Willis, Callie Hughes, Jenny Harper, Marguerite Chastain, Kristen Greene, Lillian Balch and a "special surprise guest artist!" A wonderful,good-for-all-ages,campy musical that sends up of every Broadway brat from Gypsy to The Bad Seed!
When it comes to musicians, some are known as great singers, others are great players, and Livingston Taylor is both. With more than a dozen albums and several hit singles to his name, the 30-year music veteran and kid brother of pop-folk superstar James Taylor, performs 80 to 100 shows a year and has toured with such major artists as Linda Ronstadt, Jimmy Buffet, Fleetwood Mac, and JethroTull. In addition to touring, Taylor has been an artist-in-residence at Harvard and currently teaches stage performance at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In concert Livingston Taylor alternates between his guitar and piano in performances and has been called "the ultimate crowd pleaser," by Performing Songwriter Magazine; his effervescent charming persona endears him to audiences of all ages.
