Bill Anderson coming to NY

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — Country Music Legends Whispering Bill Anderson with Little Jimmy Dickens to perform at Tri-Valley Central School on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 7 PM.

There’s an old saying: “If you want someone’s attention, whisper.” Bill Anderson has been using that philosophy for almost fifty years to capture the attention of millions of country music fans around the world, en route to becoming a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and one of the most popular, most enduring entertainers of our time. Bill Anderson has been voted Songwriter of the Year six times and Male Vocalist of the Year. His hits include Po’ Folks, Mama Sang a Song, The Tips of My Fingers, 8x10 and Still. His compositions have been recorded by countless artists including Ray Price, Jerry Lee Lewis, Steve Wariner, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss.

From his very humble beginnings in the tiny community of Bolt, West Virginia, came a man who has risen to the greatest heights in Country Music. At just 4’11” tall, he is considered to be Country Music’s foremost entertainer. Little Jimmy Dickens has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1948 and became a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1983. One of his most endearing songs includes Take an Old Cold Tater and Wait which earned him the nickname of Tater from Hank Williams Sr. Other hits include Country Boy and A-Sleepin’ at the Foot of the Bed. One of Little Jimmy Dicken’s best-know classics is May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose.

The concert is sponsored by the Tri-Valley Theatre Arts Club, a student organization that provides students with hands-on experience in theatrical production, management and artistry. All proceeds will benefit the Theatre Arts Club.

There is reserved seating only. Tickets are $33 and $38. To purchase tickets, go here or call 877-725-8849. Will-call tickets may be picked up after 6 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM with the show beginning at 7 PM. For information, visit the school's website at www.tvcs.k12.ny.us.
